In my ears
and on the walls
Kerflunk and skitter
as a pencil falls
Screech and squeal
a chair on tile
A whispered giggle
that makes me smile
The electrified current
of a humming light
The whistle of pages
ever so slight
The kissing squelch
of rubber soles
The pop of the hole punch
punching holes
A snapping trio
of binder rings
A zipping jacket
that practically sings
A quiet day?
Nearly never...
'cause learning
is a loud endeavor!
And loud it should be! What a wonderful way to reflect on the sounds of your moment.

ReplyDeleteThe sounds of school linger in my ears with your clever poem. My favorite, "the kissing squelch of rubber soles." Love the word squelch!
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh, this was so fun to read! Love the rhyme and rhythm of the whole thing!
ReplyDeleteEven quiet is noisy if we sit and listen. Love the images you paint.

ReplyDeleteThat was delightful, I could almost hear your classroom humming in my own ears. I like the pictures posted along with the words.
ReplyDeleteYour poem was ALIVE! The feel, rhythm, and imagery, not to mention onomatopoeia, left me smiling broadly. You completely captured a moment in a classroom! Love all the loud of it!
